Are Typeface websites designed and developed in house?
Yes. Typeface is Pete Morley, a Manchester based designer and website developer. You work directly with me throughout the project, from the initial design discussions through to development.
Can I update the website myself?
Typeface develops content-managed websites that allow you to maintain content in house. The areas you need to edit are agreed during planning, so the editing tools reflect how you will use the site.
Can you work with our existing branding?
Yes. An existing identity can provide the foundation for the website, with its typography, colour and visual style carried through the design. Typeface also offers branding and logo development where an identity needs further work.
What should I include in a website brief?
Outline what your business does, who the website is for and what it needs to achieve. Include any required features, your existing website address and an indication of budget and timing. It also helps to identify what content, branding and photography you already have.
How much does a bespoke website cost?
The cost depends on the scope of the design, the content and the functionality required. A small business website involves a different amount of work from an online shop or a platform with custom integrations. Sharing your requirements and an indication of budget helps establish a realistic approach to the project.
How long does it take to design and build a website?
Timescales depend on the size and complexity of the website, along with the availability of content and feedback. Planning, design, development and testing all need time within the schedule. If you have a launch date in mind, include it in your initial brief so it can be considered from the outset.
Will my website work on mobiles and tablets?
Yes. Typeface designs and develops responsive websites, with layouts that adapt to different screen sizes. Navigation, typography, imagery and forms are considered together so visitors can read, browse and make enquiries on mobile, tablet and desktop.
Do I need to provide the text and images for my website?
Existing copy, photography and brand assets provide a useful starting point. It helps to review these early and identify anything that needs writing, updating or commissioning. Typeface also offers business photography where original imagery is needed. Responsibility for content should be agreed during planning so it can be included in the project schedule.
Can you redesign my website and keep its existing content?
Yes. Existing pages, articles and other useful content can form part of a website redesign. An early review helps establish what to retain, revise or remove, alongside any technical requirements for moving it. Existing URLs and redirects also need consideration so visitors can continue to reach the right pages after launch.

I was lucky enough to see Away from the Flock at Tate Britain recently. It’s a 1994 artwork and part of Hirst’s ‘putting things in formaldehyde series’ (it’s not actually called that).
